Diveon is a village in Sangamon County, Illinois, United States. It is located along Interstate 55 and is approximately 20 miles south of Springfield, the state capital. The population of Divernon was 1,154 as of the 2010 census.
The history of Divernon dates back to the 1820s when the area was first settled by pioneers. The village was officially incorporated in 1866. Divernon was originally a farming community, but with the coming of the railroad in the late 1800s, it became an important transportation hub for the region.
